Lacoste Outlet(detail2013-06-20 2046) Bayfront fashion show nixed following concert series concerns A weekly concert series,Lacoste Outlet Rockin TM on the Bay, at the complex caused controversy recently when condo association officials complained about noise. City officials worried about parking and safety and eventually made organizers cut back on the number of shows. Those concerns were fresh in their minds Wednesday when council voted 4-3 not to hold the Florida Fashion Week events. Some council members had the same parking, sound and capacity concerns for the mixed-use complex on Goodlette-Frank Road. Others said event organizers were late turning in their permits and presumptuous about gaining final approval before appearing at council. They were selling tickets for this event long before it was approved, Councilman Bill Barnett said. With the show just two weeks away, organizers are scrambling to make other arrangements for the event they TMve promoted online and through social media. Dave Sokolowski, who is in charge of production for the event, said he TMs hopeful other options in the city will work as a venue. In the meantime, he and fellow organizers were frustrated by the outcome. Rockin TM on the Bay and other things burned bridges, Sokolowski said. And that translated into their decision with us. Sokolowski turned in his permit Feb. 7, less than 60 days before the April 1 show was to begin. It was approved by city staff, fire and police by early March. Event organizers said the city TMs permitting process is lengthy and they had to plan in the meantime. Mayor John Sorey encouraged council members who voted against the fashion show to reconsider their vote at the end of the meeting Wednesday.
